The key to running the hurdles, Ames senior Maddie Mills knows, is to not fear the hurdles. It’s to jump through the barriers rather than leap over them.
“That’s what I say to the girls,” the veteran said. “When you get out of the blocks, just attack it as hard as you can. Don’t be scared of it … The biggest thing to learn in hurdles is that it’s all in your mind.”
