Iowa State head basketball coach Fred Hoiberg is set to have open heart surgery on Friday to replace a damaged valve. It's the second heart procedure for the 42-year-old former NBA swingman.
Andy Katz of ESPN confirmed the surgery and sent along well wishes:

Randy Peterson of The Des Moines Register reports Hoiberg went through his first heart surgery and suffered some complications afterward. The coach was hoping the second operation and his recovery would go more smoothly.
