On Friday, Iowa State basketball coach Fred Hoiberg had open-heart surgery to replace an aortic valve. The procedure took place at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
According to the doctor who performed the surgery, it was a success.
“Everything went very well,” Dr. Rakesh Suri said in a statement released by the university. “The operation was a success and Mr. Hoiberg is in recovery and doing very well himself.”
Hoiberg will need four-to-six weeks to recover.
Following his surgery, Fred Hoiberg took to social media to share a video of his recovery in the hospital.
