Football: Who is the next Cyclone coach?

Iowa State fired coach Paul Rhoads on Sunday. The Cyclones will now begin the search for a replacement. The Ames Tribune breaks down a series of potential candidates, 30 in all, looking at how likely it is each one becomes the next ISU football coach. Coaches are listed in alphabetical order.

Chris Ash, Ohio State co-defensive coordinator

An Ottumwa native who graduated from Drake in 1996, has been the Buckeyes’ defensive coordinator the last two seasons in which they’ve won a national championship and lost just two games. Ash was an assistant under Dan McCarney at ISU and was again hired by the Cyclones when Rhoads took the job in 2009 before he went on to coach under Bret Bielema at Wisconsin and Arkansas.
