Football: Sooners’ second-half surge slams Cyclones

NORMAN, Okla. – No. 14 Oklahoma looked the part of a Big 12 contender. Iowa State tried to match them.

But the Cyclones could only keep up for a short stretch.

ISU went into the half down 21-9 thanks to a defense that shutout the Sooners in the second quarter, but the Cyclones couldn’t match Oklahoma when the Sooners came out and scored three third quarter touchdowns and ran away with a 52-16 win on Saturday night.

Oklahoma ended the game how it started – scoring fast and often. The Sooners scored three touchdowns on their first four drives, including a double reverse 76-yard touchdown pass to Dimitri Flowers on their first play, to jump to a 21-3 lead.
