Iowa State isn’t playing a game this weekend, but running back Trever Ryen can already call this week a win.
Ryen was awarded a scholarship at practice on Tuesday. The news was broke by a Twitter account for ISU football walk-on players.
“Newly ascended WOPA member @TrevRyen19 on the phone with mom breaking the news on earning his scholarship!!,” the tweet said, which was accompanied by a picture of Ryan on the phone.
Ryen left behind a track scholarship at Northern Iowa, where he ran in 2013-14, to walk-on at ISU. He redshirted in 2014 and developed into a Swiss Army knife for the offense this fall.
