The Paul Rhoads era of football is nearly over at Iowa State and the outgoing coach spent an emotional press conference offering thanks, highlighting achievements and saying goodbye. He also made one prediction.
“The 2016 team,” Rhoads said, “will be bowling.”
Rhoads’ seven years at the helm of ISU will come to a conclusion Saturday following the Cyclones’ game at West Virginia. Rhoads was given the option of whether or not to coach the game when informed by athletic director Jamie Pollard of his firing Sunday.
“I’m no quitter,” Rhoads said. “I would have never walked away from the job and I wouldn’t walk away from the opportunity to coach these young men one more time.
