Football: Rhoads calls Sash’s death tragic

Iowa State football coach Paul Rhoads called the death of former Iowa safety Tyler Sash tragic after practice on Tuesday.

“Just awful in life,” Rhoads said, “let alone in athletics and the sadness that goes along with losing someone so young and so vibrant and meant so much and impacted so many people as well as a in program.”

Sash was found dead in an Oskaloosa home on Tuesday morning, according to various media reports. Sash, 27, was a two-time All-Big Ten first team safety in 2009 and 2010. He also was a member of the New York Giants Super Bowl championship team in 2011
