David Beaty will step on Jack Trice Stadium as the Kansas head coach on Saturday. He nearly did it as a Cyclone back in 2009.
Paul Rhoads interviewed Beaty to be ISU’s wide receivers coach when he was first hired in 2009.
“I have the utmost respect for him,” Rhoads said.
Rhoads and then ISU offensive coordinator Tom Herman met with Beaty during a recruiting trip in Dallas. Beaty was then a Kansas assistant coach working under head coach Mark Mangino, now the ISU offensive coordinator. Luke Wells was hired as the wide out coach in February 2009.
