Iowa State sophomore running back Martinez Syria has been dismissed from the football program for a violation for team policies, the school announced Wednesday.
Syria appeared in five games as a true freshman last season, carrying 20 times for 47 yards. He suffered a concussion during the season and missed much of spring practice with a neck injury.
The 6-foot, 212-pounder was rated a three-star recruit by Rivals coming out of high school in Houston.
Sophomore Tyler Brown and freshman Mike Warren now sit alone atop the ISU running back depth chart.
