Iowa State running back Sheldon Croney has been suspended after he was arrested on operating while intoxicated first offense charges early Sunday morning, according to Iowa State Police Deputy Chief Aaron DeLashmutt.
The ISU police arrived at lot 89, on Beach Avenue near Maple Hall, at approximately 1:30 a.m. and were responding to a report of a man possibly sleeping in a vehicle, DeLashmutt said.
ISU football coach Paul Rhoads, though an ISU spokesman, confirmed Croney’s suspension on Tuesday.
“We are aware of the situation with Sheldon and in the process of gathering more information,” Rhoads in a statement.
