Football: Notebook - Big 12 to limit full-contact sessions to twice a week

DALLAS – The Big 12 is tackling player safety and concussions head on.

The Big 12 announced on Monday it will limit the number of helmet-to-helmet full contact sessions to two per week during the regular season.

“We believe it’s the right step, and we hope it will become the national rule,” said Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby at the conference’s annual media days on Monday. “ Even if it doesn’t, we think that that’s the right way to conduct our practices.”

The NCAA limits programs to three full contact days, including game day, a week.
