Former Iowa State defensive end Cory Morrissey is walking away from football.
He signed a rookie free agent deal with Baltimore after the NFL draft ended last Saturday. Morrissey announced on Twitter on Friday that he is burned out and doesn’t want to play professionally.
“I have made a decision to step away from the game of football,” said Morrissey in his statement. “This decision came at a time when I’ve truly realized that I’ve lost the passion to play the game.”
Morrissey, a Gilbert High School grad, was a two-year starter at defensive end who earned All-Big 12 honorable mention honors in 2013 and was a third-team all-conference selection this past season.
