Football: Lazard wants to send his ‘hero’ Rhoads out a winner

Allen Lazard grew up an Iowa State fan. His dad played football for the Cyclones. He was well aware of the lack of history surrounding the program.

That’s why he quickly gravitated to Paul Rhoads, long before he was being recruited, when ISU quickly started winning games under the emotional coach.

“He was kind of like a hero figure to me when I was younger,” the wide receiver said.
