Since the 2009 season, when Paul Rhoads was hired to be the head football coach at Iowa State, he had been winless in his six previous meetings against Bill Snyder and the Kansas State Wildcats, coming up short in each contest.
On Saturday, Rhoads and ISU appeared primed to finally knock off Snyder, but a series of late blunders and fumbles left Kansas State with one chance too many. After a huge halftime deficit, the Wildcats came back to beat the Cyclones, 38-35, at Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kansas.
The Cyclones (3-8, 2-6 Big 12) raced out to a 35-14 halftime lead behind the play of quarterback Joel Lanning.
