Incoming Iowa State freshman defensive end Jerrion Nelson signed two letters of intent with the hope of ensuring he becomes a Cyclone on Wednesday.
Nelson also signed with Iowa Western Community College in what his Battle High School (Mo.) football coach Justin Conyers called a “sign and place” situation on Thursday morning. Nelson still needs to obtain a qualifying ACT mark to ensure he can make it to ISU.
“It could potentially happen where he could forgo having to go to JUCO,” Conyers said. “Iowa State wanted to make sure crossed our t’s and dotted our i’s on everything and that he had a place to go if that test score did not come up.
