Matt Campbell is officially the head of the Iowa State football program.
The former Toledo head coach was announced Sunday as Paul Rhoads’ replacement with the Cyclones.
“Matt’s coaching and playing achievements are extraordinary, but we were even more impressed by his character, leadership and commitment to his family,” ISU athletic director Jamie Pollard said in a statement released by the school.
The Ames Tribune reported ISU’s hiring of Campbell on Saturday night.
Campbell’s contract with ISU is for six years and his salary will start at $2 million next season, according to ISU. He made $495,000 last year at Toledo, where he went 35-15 in four seasons and went 1-1 in two games against ISU.
