Linebacker Luke Knott is leaving the Iowa State football team. Knott, a senior, will not play his final season, citing a series of hip injuries during his career for his departure.
He broke the news in an ISU press release on Friday morning.
“Going through the initial workouts, I just didn’t have it in my hip,” said Knott in a statement. “It’s time (to) start a different career. I have to think long term.”
Knott broke out as a redshirt freshman, starting five games in 2013. He appeared to be following in the footsteps of his brother, Luke, an All-Big 12 linebacker at ISU.
