Football: Florida offensive lineman commits to ISU

Frostproof (Fla.) High School offensive lineman Michael Smith Jr. must have liked what he saw when Iowa State hosted No. 4 Oklahoma State last Saturday.

Four days later he verbally committed to the Cyclones on Wednesday, according to a source.

He is expected to play center for the Cyclones. Smith is a 6-foot-3, 273-pound high school senior who is a two-star Rivals.com prospect. His offers included Marshall, Western Kentucky, South Alabama and Georgia Southern.

He attended an ISU satellite camp in June. He came back for an official visit last weekend.

Smith is 12th prospect in the 2016 class.
