Two offensive linemen will not be returning to the Iowa State football team for 2016.
Offensive guard Daniel Burton and center Nick Severs are no longer with the program, an ISU official confirmed on Thursday. The Ames Tribune previously reported that Burton didn’t plan on coming back.
Burton, a fifth-year senior, is a big loss for for an offensive line that is short on returning starters. Burton started 26 games over the last three seasons. Injuries were an issue for Burton in the last year. He underwent knee surgery following the 2014 finale against TCU. He missed four games with a foot injury last season.
