For the first 22 minutes, No. 2 Baylor looked like it might roll to another 60-point performance. Then, over the next two quarters, the Bears were made human by Iowa State’s defense.
But despite an inspiring performance from the Cyclones, Baylor still managed a three-possession victory, winning 45-27 at McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas on Saturday.
The Bears (7-0, 4-0 Big 12) raced out to a quick 35-0 lead midway through the second quarter, scoring touchdowns on five of their first seven possessions. The Cyclones (2-5, 1-3) could not keep pace, turning the ball over three times in their first six possessions while punting on the others.
