Mitchell Meyers wore a helmet Thursday. It was a heck of a thing.
“Felt good,” the Iowa State redshirt senior said.
After a 13-month battle against Hodgkin’s Lymphoma that included two sets of chemotherapy, stem cell transplant and radiation, not to mention the emotional and psychological battles that go unmeasured, wearing a helmet for the first time in nearly two years marked one important milestone for the defensive end.
“This is bonus time for me,” the Texas native said. “I’m just having fun everyday. Obviously, this isn’t promised to anybody. Your health isn’t promised.
“Coming out here and being able to be on the football field and be with my friends is a really great feeling.
