Cyclones Knock Off Southern, Hawkeyes Loom

Meredith Burkhall emerged in the 2nd quarter, and Seanna Johnson notched another double-double to lead the Cyclones to victory.

Iowa State secured an 86-46 win against Southern on Sunday afternoon at Hilton Coliseum. The victory moved the Cyclones to 4-3 on the year.

The Cyclones were stagnant on offense early in the game and finished the 1st quarter just 4-15 from the floor. Six free throws helped Iowa State hold a 15-10 lead over the Jaguars at the first break. TeeTee Starks and Bryanna Fernstrom started for Iowa State, but freshman Bridget Carleton was out for her third straight full game.
