Cyclones fall to South Dakota State, 71-68

Well, in case you though this was gonna be a super fun basketball season, the Cyclones went out tonight to prove you wrong. South Dakota State came into Hilton Coliseum tonight in a virtual pick ‘em game.

After Solomon Young’s bucket to tie the game up, the Jackrabbits flashed some hot shooting, opening up a double digit lead before halftime. The Iowa State offense was stagnant, and the defense really struggled to close out shooters.

The Cyclones did manage to climb back late in the second half and actually briefly get to a one point deficit, but the couldn’t get jumpshots to fall at the end, and SDSU iced the game from the free throw line after Jalen Coleman-Lands made an inexplicable play in the final possession to turn it over to the Jacks.
