The desire to become involved in public speaking motivated Larry Cotlar to cross an item off of his bucket list.
Cotlar, a long-time radio personality in Des Moines, is now an author.
“A couple years ago, when (former Drake basketball player and university administrator) Dolph Pulliam retired, I gave a little speech for him,” Cotlar said, “and (radio host) Mary Brubaker said, ‘Wow that was a great speech.’ So I started thinking about getting involved in public speaking and motivational speaking. Then I got talking to (reporter) Mike Chapman, and I asked him how do you get speaking engagements.
