Women’s Basketball: Iowa Races Past Murray State, 92-57, in first Round of NCAA Tournament

If Jan Jensen and her squad had any worries about playing against the highest scoring team in Division I basketball, they certainly didn’t show it Saturday afternoon.

The 6-seed Hawkeyes (23-10) used a 20-4 run to start the second half to defeat the 11-seed Murray State Racers (25-8), 92-57 at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, OK. It’s the first NCAA Tournament win for Jensen in her first season as the helm as Lisa Bluder’s successor.

The win was a great effort from the Hawkeyes, who absolutely STUFFED the stat sheet from top to bottom.

True freshman Ava Heiden tied to match all scorers with 15 points and 7 rebounds off the bench on a lethal 7-11 from the field.
