MISSOULA, Mont. -- Senior Brooke Backes scored her first goal of the season to help send the University of Iowa soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Utah State on Friday afternoon at South Campus Stadium in Missoula, Montana.
"We looked like a team that got in late last night after a 12-hour travel day," said UI head coach Dave DiIanni. "Unfortunately, we came out for the first half flat and gave up a goal early. They had to will themselves to be a little more competitive, and they did a great job in the second half.
