IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa softball team fell to Purdue, 6-4, in its home opener at Bob Pearl Field on Friday night. The Hawkeyes fall to 8-20 overall and 0-4 in conference action with the loss.
Purdue took a 1-0 lead on a leadoff home run in the top of the first inning, but the Iowa bats fought right back in the bottom of the inning. With two outs, freshman Mallory Kilian capitalized on the RBI opportunity with a double through the right side to knot the game, 1-1.
