After a monster day on Saturday, Nicholas Baer was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week by the Big Ten on Monday.
The Iowa Hawkeyes were looking like they might be in a little bit of trouble on Saturday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines when senior forward, Jarrod Uthoff, picked up his second foul just five minutes into the game.
They were already looking rather sloppy before Uthoff left, so this had Hawkeye fans feeling uneasy.
Enter Nicholas Baer.
The walk on redshirt freshman provided an instant spark. He scored four points, gathered two rebounds, and rejected four shots in the first half of the game on Saturday and was not done.
