IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Daniel Jansen’s buzzer-beater lifted NCAA Division II Augustana (South Dakota) to a 76-74 exhibition victory over the University of Iowa men’s basketball team Friday night on Mediacom Court inside Carver Hawkeye Arena.
The game-winning field goal came after the Hawkeyes erased a 15 point second half deficit to tie the game at 74 on a Peter Jok 3-pointer with 28 seconds remaining. The Vikings called a timeout with 11 seconds left before putting the ball in their preseason All-American’s hands.
“It’s just the way we drew it up,” joked Augustana head coach Tom Billeter.
