The Hawkeyes hosted the Big 10 championships this past weekend, but that wasn’t the feat that Iowa hasn’t accomplished since 2012. On their home mat, Sammy Brooks and Cory Clark were crowned conference champions at 133 and 184 pounds. It’s the first time that the Hawkeyes have had two individual Big 10 champions since 2012.
Clark won his championship bout 2-1 in the first tiebreaker, getting the winning point with 30 seconds of riding time on Illinois’ Zane Richard. Brooks won his championship match by a 6-4 score.
There was more hardware that Iowa took home. Brandon Sorensen was the 140-pound runner-up, as was Nathan Burak at 197 pounds.
