After getting 33 bench points at home against Michigan on Jan. 28, the University of Iowa women’s basketball team’s reserves managed only five points on Sunday at Northwestern. It didn’t matter.
All five Hawkeye starters scored in double figures, led by sophomore Chase Coley with 19 points, and Iowa got its second consecutive Big 10 win 79-64.
Much of the offensive success for the Hawkeyes’ starters was due to their shooting performance. Iowa (15-7 overall, 5-5 Big 10) shot 50 percent from the field in the first half, then improved upon that in the second half by shooting nearly 54 percent.
