The 4th-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team improved to 7-1 on the young season winning the Gulf Coast Showcase on Sunday, November 26. The Hawkeyes beat Purdue-Fort Wayne, FGCU, and Kansas State to win the title. The victory somewhat avenged the home-court loss to Kansas State a few weeks ago.
The first matchup between the teams was a rarity for Caitlin Clark; she did not play like the national player of the year winner from 2022-23. Clark did have 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists in the first meeting, but her 2 for 16 shooting from beyond the arc was not what the basketball world is used to seeing.
