The Hawkeyes got off to a slow start in their season opener against Illinois State, but the switch was flipped at halftime and Iowa emerged with a 40-0 blowout against the Redbirds. The defense was as expected for the entirety of the game, but the offensive explosion in the second half was just what the doctor ordered.
Now the Hawkeyes look to build on the success against an FCS opponent with their first significant test of the year as they play host to the Iowa State Cyclones in week two. ISU comes into the week at 1-0 on the young season as well after they defeated FCS North Dakota 21-3 in their opener.
