We are back! We are SO back!
College football officially kicked off the 2024 season on Saturday with Georgia Tech’s upset of #10 Florida State in Ireland. Now it’s the rest of the country’s turn.
For the Iowa Hawkeyes, that means a home opener from Kinnick Stadium as they play host to the Illinois State Redbirds. The Redbirds of the MVC get Iowa back to playing an FCS opponent in the opener after taking 2023 off. Iowa, of course, will be without head coach Kirk Ferentz and new WR coach Jon Budmayr after the two received a self-imposed one game suspension for recruiting violations related to impermissible contact with Cade McNamara way back in 2022.
