The first half was gross football. But something sparked the Iowa Hawkeyes, and that something was a transfer quarterback getting a chance to face his old squad. A possible start to the full-time Brendan Sullivan era got off to a very rocky start. Three straight drives with good field position. Three straight three-and-outs. But with 1:22 in the first half and 52 yards out, Sullivan engineered a touchdown drive to give the Hawks a 12 - 7 lead, and that was the start of a blowout.
