Coach Fran McCaffery and his Iowa Hawkeyes (11-4/2-2) made a terrific comeback against Fred Hoiberg’s Nebraska Cornhuskers (12-3/2-2) team on Tuesday night. The Hawkeyes trailed by 15 and looked rather listless. Payton Sandfort did not score in the first half. Sandfort, a senior guard, channeled his inner NBA Jam, shooting fireballs in the second half. Payton ended with 30 points. The Hawkeyes, after giving up 800 points to Wisconsin, didn’t bring a lot of energy on the defensive end again and fell into a hole.
