The Rick Heller-coached Iowa Hawkeyes came up short in the Big Ten Tournament last weekend in Omaha, Nebraska. Iowa’s only chance of extending its season came down to winning the double-elimination tournament. It wasn’t out of the question, but the Hawks had to make some breaks and catch some breaks. They did neither. Iowa played well enough to win both games, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be. The Hawkeyes dropped the first game 3-2 to Michigan in 10 innings. They faced Illinois the next day and lost 4-2, again in extra innings.
