The ending of the 2005 Capital One Bowl was one for the ages. With seconds remaining, the Iowa football team had the ball on their own 44-yard line down 25 to 24 and no timeouts. Sophomore quarterback Drew Tate dropped back and fired a pass to a streaking Warren Holloway who ran into the endzone for the game-winning touchdown.
Dubbed “the catch” by Iowa football faithful it was one of those moments that you know exactly where you were when it happened–I was at my buddy Tanner’s house, and we just started running around the house yelling. It’s a moment that will live on forever, but what shouldn’t be overshadowed is just how great of a team the Iowa football team was that season.
