Legendary coach Kirk Ferentz is in a rare position. Not many college football coaches get to go to 16 bowl games in their career let alone with the same football program, but that’s exactly what Kirk is doing. He has taken the Iowa football team to 16 bowl games (including the upcoming Outback Bowl) and walked away victorious seven times.
Not including the Outback Bowl, his 15 bowl appearances ranks 21st all time and his career bowl wins of seven ranks 31st of all time. His bowl winning percentage of .461 isn’t perfect by any means, but it doesn’t take into account the teams that have continually overachieved in his tenure before meeting opponents that are too much for the Hawkeyes (I’m looking at you Christian McCaffery and the Stanford Cardinal).
