The Iowa football team always has talented players on their roster, but it’s unheralded performances from the “other” guys that can make the difference in the outcome of the season.
Last year was a great example of the highs and lows of players not named Nate Stanley, TJ Hockenson, and Noah Fant that won and lost games.
Against Minnesota, the stellar play of true freshman Riley Moss and Julius Brents against arguably the best wide receiver group in the Big Ten helped lead the Iowa football team to victory.
Yet, against Purdue, Moss’ play may have cost the Hawks the game as Kirk Ferentz waited entirely too long before pulling the true freshman as he was getting eaten alive by David Blaugh and Terry Wright.
