Dear Old Gold has been hammering home this in-state rivalry all week and for good reason. It’s going to be a fantastic game as both teams are in position to make some noise in the NCAA this year. Despite Iowa State finally being able to compete (to an extent) with the Iowa football program in talent, the Hawks will undoubtedly win this game.
I, by no means, expect this to be a blowout, but I do think there are several key advantages the Iowa Hawkeyes possess when taking on the lowly Iowa State Cyclones. The Hawks head into this game off a blowout victory over NIU while the Cyclones will be playing their first game of the season after last weekend’s cupcake scheduling of FCS program South Dakota State was canceled due to inclement weather.
