Every year, the state of Iowa gets up in arms over which college football team is the best. Every year, I see the same insults going back and forth, but I truly believe that numbers talk. When looking purely at the numbers, the University of Iowa football team is far superior.
Since the series began in 1894, these two Iowa schools have faced off 65 times with Saturday becoming the 66th time. There have been two large breaks in the storied rivalry from 1921-1932 and from 1935-1976. From 1976 on, however, there have been zero years where fans of either university couldn’t see the rivalry game take place.
