The Iowa Hawkeyes played in one of the biggest games in the last 35 years over the weekend when they defeated the then #4 Penn State Nittany Lions 23-20. It was the first top5 showdown inside Kinnick Stadium since 1985 and the first such showdown to not feature either Michigan or Ohio State in the Big Ten since 1962.
But the big game was historic not just for its on-field implications, but also because of the potential future impacts it will have on the Iowa roster. The Hawkeye coaching staff pushed all their chips onto the table for last Saturday’s showdown by hosting more than 80 recruits across the classes of 2022, 2023 and beyond.
