It’s hard to believe that Kirk Ferentz has been the head football coach for the Iowa football team for 20 years. Previous head coach Hayden Fry spent 20 years as the head coach as well so it’s pretty remarkable for one team to have just two coaches over the course of a 40-year span.
Ferentz is under contract through the 2026 season and has been the model for consistency for an Iowa football program that has produced at least an eight-win season 11 times in his 20 years. He also has just four losing seasons and two outside of his first two years getting acclimated to being the head coach of the Hawkeyes.
