The Iowa football team utilized the revised NCAA rule regarding the redshirt rule that allows for players to play in up to four games and still being able to maintain their redshirt status. Previously, players would lose the tag if they played in even just one game.
Julius Brents, Riley Moss, and Kaevon Merriweather were notable true freshman who played in more than four games last season. Moss was named the B1G Freshman of the Week for his two interceptions in the Minnesota game. Brents recorded his lone interception last season in that game as well.
