Much to the surprise of every Hawkeye fan inside Carver over the weekend, the Iowa wrestling team is 3-0 after the Iowa City Duals, winning 27 of 30 matches — 20 via bonus points. Iowa downed Iowa Central 48-0, Buffalo 33-6, and North Dakota State 38-6.
Some highlights:
- Brandon Sorensen, Michael Kemerer, and Joey Gunther picked up bonus points in all three matches. Sorensen went pin, tech fall, major, while Kemerer picked up a pair of falls before finishing things off with a tech. Gunther, your starter at 141 pounds, picked up a tech fall, major, and tech fall to begin his first campaign as the guy for Tom Brands.
