The Hawkeyes came out strong against the top-seeded and fifth-ranked Maryland Terrapins in Friday’s women’s Big 10 tournament quarterfinal game, but Maryland’s depth and talent eroded Iowa’s best efforts to advance the Terrapins to Saturday’s semifinal round with a 75-55 victory.
Junior Ally Disterhoft led the charge for the Hawkeyes in the first quarter, netting 10 points during the period as Iowa managed to take a 28-18 lead into the second quarter of play.
The Terrapins then started out the second quarter on a 12-0 run to take a 30-28 lead with just under five minutes to play until halftime.
