It’s been 15 years since Iowa was last looking for a head men’s basketball coach. A few things have changed since then. At one point the transfer portal was thought to be an unsustainable way to fill the roster (even mocked by Hawkeye fans when comparing early success for McCaffery vs Hoiberg in Ames) while paying players was done under the table and considered cheating.
