The Iowa Hawkeyes kicked off their 2024-2025 season on Monday with an 89-67 win over the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions. Iowa had five players in double figures in the opener, led by standout Payton Sandfort, who finished with a double-double, including 20 points, 11 boards and 7 assists. Owen Freeman nearly got to double-double territory with 15 points and 9 boards of his own.
Now the Hawkeyes move on to game two of the Kenny Arnold Classic as they play host to the Southern Jaguars inside Carver-Hawkeye. Southern started the season 0-1 after a 93-79 loss at the hands of the South Dakota Coyotes.
